Admissions Procedures

The Auburn School has rolling admissions and accepts applications for grades K-12 throughout the year.

Application & Supplementary Materials
For best consideration, please submit applications for the upcoming school year by February 1 and all supplementary materials by February 28. All supplementary materials must be received in order to begin application review. If testing or other materials are pending, please indicate on the application when you expect results will be available. We will continue to review applications received after this date for remaining spaces. We will also review applicants for mid year enrollment.

Student Visit
After reviewing the completed application, The Auburn School will contact you to schedule a student visit if we believe your child can be well served by our program. Additional information will be provided when the visit is scheduled.

Parent interview (optional)
In certain circumstances, we may request that the parents visit with Auburn staff to discuss the child’s application, testing and learning needs in more detail.

Decision notification
We seek to provide notification of student visits, admissions and financial aid decisions on a timely basis once a completed application, including all supporting materials, has been received. Decisions will be mailed in mid-March for applications received by the February 1.

Affordability

The Auburn School is firmly committed to working with any family who can benefit from our program to ensure adequate financial support is provided.  Please do not hesitate to contact our admissions office with any questions you may have.

Our tuition and fees are set at a level that ensures we can provide an appropriate and high quality program for our students.  We understand the costs may be significant for many families.  However, we hope a variety of measures ensure our school remains widely accessible:

1.  Tax-Deductible Tuition*
We are unique from most private schools in that we serve a special population.  For most families, Auburn’s tuition and fees may qualify as a tax-deductible medical expense.  This has the potential to reduce your tuition costs by thousands of dollars each year. Other expenses, such as your transportation costs, will also generally be tax-deductible.  For more information on this deduction, please speak with our staff, see the GreatSchools website, and consult your individual tax advisor.   Individual circumstances will vary, so please be sure to consult your personal tax advisor.

2.  Generous Financial Aid
To assist families that may not otherwise be able to consider Auburn, we dedicate a significant portion of our operating funds to support a generous financial aid program. We expect approximately 20-25% of students will receive tuition assistance, with average grant awards of about $7,500-$10,000.

3.  Monthly Payment Plan
Finally, we partner with FACTS, a national, third-party tuition management service to offer a monthly payment plan.  Enrolling in FACTS also enables you to pay tuition using automated bank debits or a credit card.  For more information, please see our Tuition Management Page.
