Executive Functioning

The Auburn School works closely with students to provide guidance and support to those students who struggle with various areas of executive functioning such as time management and planning, organization and homework, and strategies for self-advocacy and self-regulation. These supports are geared towards creating structure and developing skills for independence in order to enhance your students’ success. Those students that participate in our elementary program receive hands-on instruction through the use of visuals, guided practice, and clear and consistent expectations. Executive functioning for this younger population is reinforced through review of daily schedules and routines, strategies for maintaining focus, and self-regulation and self-monitoring techniques.
Executive functioning interventions are not only embedded within the Auburn School as a whole, but they are also designed to be individualized based on the level of student need. It is with these daily supports that students are able to achieve a sense of accomplishment, independence, and success as they work towards their futures.
