What is The Auburn Model?
The Auburn Model is an educational approach that combines academic rigor with teaching social and emotional skills. It fosters growth in a small, supportive environment, offering personalized support to enhance resilience, self-advocacy, and confidence. The model emphasizes social learning, integrating it into all subjects to help students develop friendships and succeed socially. Parents are seen as essential partners, with teachers maintaining open communication to share progress and encourage parental involvement.
The Auburn Model is transition-focused, and the average student attends for 3-4 years; teachers and specialists prepare students for the next step, whether that be a mainstream school environment, high school, or college.
Financial Aid
Many social thinking and learning, behavior and OT services are included in the tuition. The Auburn School has a strong desire to serve all students and families who can benefit from our program. Generous financial aid and tuition assistance is available to families that qualify based on demonstrated need. Approximately 20-25% of students receive tuition assistance, with average grant awards of about $7,500-$10,000.
For most of our families, all of Auburn’s tuition, fees and related costs, such as transportation, are fully tax-deductible as a medical expense. This reduces the effective cost to families by thousands of dollars each year. Individual circumstances will vary, so please consult your individual tax advisor regarding this deduction.
